Description

In the early campaigns in North Africa and the Mediterranean theatre, British troops wore KD shorts or slacks with long sleeved Aertex shirts. The paler tan shade of KD was more suited to desert or semi-desert regions than the “dark khaki” or brown serge used in battledress.

Officers had Cotton KD 4 pocket tunics and slacks made to the same pattern as the OD wool Officers Service Tunic. All buttons were removable for washing and rank badges were fitted through  eyelet buttonholes sewn into the fabric.

This officer is wearing private purchased Corduroy trousers. There are many original photographs of officers wearing any combination of issued clothing and private purchase items in the North Africa Campaign.

This costume hire consists of the following;

Officers 4 pocket KD Tunic - Scottish Regiment Tam O’ Shanter cap - Aertex KD shirt- Khaki Corduroy Trousers - Soft leather ‘Desert Boots’ - 1937 pattern belt, pistol ammunition pouch and holster for the Webley Service Revolver.

We can supply the Webley Service Revolver through our gun hire department.
